The Product: One World Futbol (soccer ball)

Why Shop One World Play Project?:  The vision of One World Futbol started when inventor Tim Jahnigen saw a group of young refugees in Darfur playing soccer with a homemade ball composed of trash and twine.  Determined to improve the refugee conditions and encourage development through play, he teamed up with Sting, and the One World Futbol was created. Now, when you buy a blue ball, 5% of your purchase price is donated to organizations helping to bring play to youth in disadvantaged communities. You can also opt to gift a ball to a community, or donate directly from the page above. The One World Play Project continues to bring the power of play to communities through the All Girls Can Play, Make Life PlayFull, and Play Together Campaigns.

“We originally created the unpoppable One World Futbol as a solution for kids living in harsh conditions where standard soccer balls don’t last long. But along the way, it became obvious just how transformative and powerful play is, not just for the millions of youth around the world living in poverty, but for all of us. Play is in our DNA—a need as important as food, medicine and shelter. It’s an intrinsic part of our lives, regardless of geography or culture, and through play we become stronger individuals, build better communities and create a more positive future.”
